A founding participant of the Maple Run Tour, Chris Van Zanten invites you to visit the hottest studio of the Mississippi Mills Art Romp! Offering studio demonstrations both Saturday and Sunday.
Chris is a multi-disciplined Glass Artist who started his formal art education at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in the mid 70’s.
The past 23 years have been focused in Art Glass while undertaking a broad range of commissions and works of personal expression.
In 2004 Chris and his wife Barb bought their rural Pakenham century property (about a half hour west of Ottawa) and set out to design and build the present studio and equipment.
Mentoring students and offering hot glass workshops, corporate team building and more have been ongoing ever since.
The hot glass exploration that began in Corning N.Y. while studying with various artists at several different studio settings, continues to evolve and engage the beholder with a highly resolved moment of an age old dance with fire.
A new horizon awaits me each time I engage my 2,100 degree furnace….it has become the “Fire in my bones”.
