Sarah Smith, a local candle maker who lives in Cedar Hill just outside of Pakenham, returns to the 2019 Tour with her all-natural plant-based coconut wax candles and diffuser oils.
With a degree in biology and training as a field ornithologist, she has travelled all over the continent studying and surveying birds. After she had two beautiful children, the travel requirements of a field biologist lost their lustre and she sought out the quiet country life to be with her family.
Sarah began to make candles as an evening hobby for a local boutique shop. Although she enjoyed it, she found the synthetic fragrance oils overpowering. In time, it became more clear to her that a more natural alternative was better aligned with her interests. With so many fabulous scents available in nature, she felt that there is no need to bring the unhealthy, synthetic alternative into your home.
She developed a line of clean-burning soy candles scented with all natural essential oils. Sarah blends the scents to evoke scenes from nature; the serenity of a field of lavender, or the dark mystery of the boreal forest.
Each label is designed and drawn in pen and ink. Each candle is hand-poured in her Cedar Hill studio.

Each Spring when she and her husband dust off their buckets and make maple syrup to supply friends and family with a year’s worth of pancake breakfasts.
