Having dabbled in various media over the past 30 years or so, such as acrylics and watercolours, pencil and paper, pottery and relief wood carving; working with stained glass mosaics has stuck these past 10 years.
Both strong and fragile at the same time, I really enjoy both the flexibility and forgiving nature of the glass mosaics. This medium allows me to capture the moments and be creative, while bringing nature indoors any time of the year.
I also appreciate being able to repurpose salvaged items that might have otherwise ended up in the landfill. I use reclaimed wooden frame windows and scrap glass, and other innocuous materials.
My favourite maple memory:
Boiling maple water collected from trees in our backyard, down into syrup with my two young sons. Enjoying maple toffee, freshly rolled from a clean sheet of snow.
